after a year of work it’s time to make the work visible to a wider audience – my first year of the residency at Sizewell C has been amazing and I can’t wait to share the work with the community…..it will be interesting, hanging the work over 4 sites today was instructive, so many voices in my head instructing and guiding my decisions. onto screens Eternity – oh dear, in another writer/director’s hands the interesting premise might be more interesting and less hetro-normative and just dull. The Rip – tight acting served by a great script. The Life of Chuck will have you confusedly torn apart in a beautiful way.

As part of my residency at Sizewell C I’ve started a mini project with Alde Valley school exploring what energy looks like – some really interesting sessions with great outcomes, I think the final fence covering will look great. Finished the catalogue for the exhibition and the document is off to the printers. The silent auction is on at the art station – I didn’t put a reserve on it so the market will determine all - I’m up to £20:00 so far!!!! It’s that time again – Netflix Christmas movies…..so far……. Renovation Romance, Champagne Problems….both bangers! – on another note. The Left Handed Girl – astonishingly challenging but/and beautiful. A couple of series……Wild Cherry – a collection of very unpleasant people being unpleasant. Malice – creepy, creepy, creepy but/and good.

Some work created as a result of my engagement with SZC is to be exhibited within a group exhibition called LAND 2. This exhibition is organised by The Art Station in Saxmundham where LAND 1 is being shown, the work will be shown in the Theatre space in Framlingham. I also have some work in a group show at Barnby Chapel as part of a SZC outreach community engagement opportunity, But most of the work will be an exhibition at Snape Maltings early next year. The exhibition will be in several buildings and consist of all the work created during the year. I am looking forward to inviting SZC staff to the opening and a potential tour of the work. Thank you to all those who have reached out to talk about their jobs, without these conversations the work would be less informed. Onto screens – Mix Tape on the BBC is beautifully sad and authentic in a good way. My oxford year was what it was always going to be.

Just added new work to my website – information about the 3D printing I’ve been involved in – looking good. The prizes for synthetic anatomy are ready – some 3D printed pieces for individuals who contributed to the classroom discussions making the sessions work for everyone. There are 8 sets of prints each in an edition of 6 for teams who have attained impressive examples in a range of categories.

Looking forward to working with people who have signed up for a series of workshops I’m running online for Double Elephant Print Studio based in Exeter. The course is title Influence and Connection - An online course to support artists’ reflection and practice. The requisite number of people have signed up for it to be viable but if anybody is interested there is the possibility of joining in – check out their website https://www.doubleelephant.org.uk/courses  Its 4 sessions that will explore the lateral thinking, problem solving I have been developing over the past 10 years that started with my Post graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching where I focused my research on reflective thinking, introducing it to the Textile design Course at NUA. I’m working on a commission for the new space created in the Science Gallery at London Bridge – the space is being re-imagined as a well-being space for students and I’ve been devising activities, creating graphics, instructions, and workshops. It’s interesting to use some of the folding techniques I’ve been exploring alongside the work I developed for care homes and libraries. Before Christmas I had a quick visit to Laurence Edwards foundry in Halesworth to develop the ongoing series of film/projection work. These are just some screen grabs but show the idea. Printing again - this time it's all about lines rather than spaces - continued work with the tessellated images - printing with puff binder is very fulfilling, it's printed on a range of surfaces and the effect is mesmerizing, especially in the heat press as the binder 'grows' - the work is all about the haptic - how the work feels in the hand is key,  it's all about the touch and weight. Temperature has become a thing, especially as the material retains heat in the hand. can't help but think about body, brain and images of internal organs.

Working on some prints - using puff binder on polyester to focus on touch. It was interesting to see how cleaning the table presented some interesting images - layers accentuating ideas of contact.
