convergence - today the various strands of research have merged - from the book repository, thinking about the idea of communication of knowledge and how we communicate - The Marconi Wireless factory is/was just around the corner and I started to reflect on all the places messages were sent to and from and how far away places were/are - signposts - an image from my family album - far right is my Uncle Reg my great Aunt Floss who is sitting on his right, always with her handbag. He worked at GEC and I once made a cats whisker radio set with him - a proto transmitter - the crystal was galena, which has an isometric structure so the idea using symmetric crystal structures to exploring moulds and the positive and negative is in the air.

Well some imaginative house building is going on locally – maybe destined for the owners of such considerately parked cars. Meanwhile I’m surrounded by diagrams of room layouts with notes over it them. It’s planning exhibition time and for me that means an extended time of flexible negotiation. I try to enable the individual work to shine, finding the space that works for it within mass group show. Last night I was at a great event at Wensum Lodge in Norwich at the private view of the foundation Course. The show an eclectic mix of fantastic, intense work from young people at the beginning of their creative careers - it lasts until Friday - go see. Bob had a body of work exploring the idea of embedding emotions within objects, including 4 bookworks and around 30 sculptures for the hand, as well as 4 sited pieces over Norfolk and Suffolk. http://www.bobbicknell-knight.com/

Completed two group tutorial sessions for the Open College of the Arts – an on-line experience which sees me wearing a microphone like early Madonna and I love it. The process is fascinating and the connection with students all over the world is an extension of the work I am involved in at Camberwell. It’s interesting to be part of the future in some way!

The digging, drilling, cutting, shifting part of my life nears its end – the ‘floating’ step is on its way and the new house bit should be completed by Friday.

A weekend of theatre at High Tide Festival in Halesworth – the big meal http://www.hightide.org.uk/event/the_big_meal and incognito http://www.hightide.org.uk/event/incognito - both plays with interesting fractured narratives and a staggering amount of stage craft - it’s great to see such interesting work just down the road – meanwhile out of the scrape materials from the building work going on around me I’ve built two multi-functional-seating-day-beds-with-storage for the new space – they look a little like coffins which could give them another use...................later

its all about the detail - the inside of the new space is looking good and the 2 hour meeting about screws has paid off - the feel is of craft-folk-modernism - Jane at kirkham and sheidow http://www.kirkhamsheidow.co.uk/ has done such a wonderful job and the guys at Simon Odgen Builders are right on the mark when it comes to problem solving the details.
